Day 269: 40 Days of Prayer for Our Nation ~ Day 2: Praise for His Creation

“Doth not all nature around me praise God? If I were silent, I should be an exception to the universe. Doth not the thunder praise Him as it rolls like drums in the march of the God of armies? Do not the mountains praise Him when the woods upon their summits wave in adoration? Doth not the lightning write His name in letters of fire? Hath not the whole earth a voice? And shall I, can I, silent be?” – Charles Spurgeon

Psalm 104: 1-5
“Praise the LORD, my soul. LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty. The LORD wraps Himself in light as with a garment; He stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of His upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds His chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. He makes winds His messengers, flames of fire His servants. He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.”

Dear heavenly Father, we praise You, most gracious God, for the beauty of earth and sky and sea, for the richness of our majestic mountains, fruited plains, and flowing rivers. We praise You for giving us a firm foundation that can never be moved. How we take delight in birdsong and the flowers that you planted to give us such pleasure. We praise You for how You have graced us with these good gifts that enhance our lives with such beauty. May we continue to hold them in sacred trust for our children and grandchildren. Grant us continued enjoyment of all these gracious gifts that have come from your creation. May we always give honor and glory to You for Your abundant blessings, O Lord. In Your splendid name, we pray. Amen.
