Mark 8:36:
“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”
Lord, we have seen once again in this election cycle the worst and the best in all the candidates. How are we to discern Your will for our nation, O God? We have listened to your instruction to us about what it means to have a heart of wisdom—which comes from having a fear and reverence for You. Help us to rise above the circumstances of this election chaos and exercise our right to select our leaders for mayors, senators, congressmen, governors, judges and President, with wisdom from above. Help us heed Your instruction to reject those who are willing to say anything to gain power even at the cost of their own souls. May we choose those who will honor You, will love truth and justice, preserve the sanctity of life, hate bribes, and will not lead our nation astray. Remind us to put our trust first and foremost in You, our Eternal God, rather than in man. However You decide to move today, we will still trust You, our sovereign Father. We pray in the righteous name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
