Matthew 5:14
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Psalm 103:19
“The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.”
Romans 13:1
“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.”
I think we can all agree that this election season has been hard on all of us. It may have created division, discord, and tension, even within the Church, but we can agree that God is good, and we can rest in the assurance that He will remain on His throne no matter who is elected to our nation’s highest office. With just two days left before Election Day, may our anxieties be calmed by today’s scriptures. As you read them, be assured that Christ loves us. He is in control. He has a plan. And He is our strength, hope, and peace no matter the results. In Him we entrust our future. Hallelujah!
Dear Heavenly Father, we praise Your Holy name and thank you for the great nation we live in. Our freedom and citizenship allow each of us to have a voice in the way our government is run, and we thank You for giving us the privilege of voting in this election. We ask that Your sovereign hand be upon our country and that You would thwart any attempts by the evil one to disrupt, deceive, or destroy our election process so that it is fair and honest. We acknowledge that You are in control of our nation’s future. Our greatest desire is for it to honor and glorify You, O God, and that it would reflect Your light like a shining city on a hill. All this we pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
I am honored that you have read my devotion today and have accepted the invitation to pray for our nation. I trust it is an encouragement to you and glorifies God. To receive them in your email every day, go to the homepage and simply click on “Subscribe.”
