Day 164: The Attributes of Our Triune God

1 Timothy 1:17
“To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”

“I am God, and you are not.” Have you ever imagined what it would be like to be in the very presence of God, and to have Him speak to you directly? I think being in His presence, let alone hearing those words, would stop me in my tracks and cause me to fall on my face before Him. In fact, not only is He God, but He is so much more, and whatever attributes of God were true of Him in the beginning, they are still true now, for He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Nothing will so enlarge our intellect and expand our heart as much as deep, earnest, and continued investigation of and meditation on our Triune God. Revealed in scripture are these attributes:

• He is eternal, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End.
• He is our Creator and Counselor, guiding us daily to make wise decisions.
• He is our Comforter in sorrow, pain, or distress.
• He draws near to us when we draw near to Him.
• He is the God who demonstrates His faithfulness, forgiveness, grace, and love.
• He is the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
• He was there from the beginning when He formed the earth and will be there until the end.
• He heals, convicts, corrects, protects, and provides.
• He is just and full of mercy, trustworthy and true.
• He is named Jesus, the name above all names.
• He is Immanuel, God with us.
• He is Messiah, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
• He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
• He is our Peace, Redeemer, our Salvation, our Hope.
• He has prepared a place for us so we can live with Him forever.
• Lord God, You are our everything, and all our praise is to You.

Romans 11:33 says, “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways!” Amen! Let us search the depths for the riches of our God!

Our Father, as Your adopted family, we are invited to come into Your presence, not in fear of condemnation, but with hearts full of honor and praise to You. As we are reminded of Your countless attributes, we cling to them and pray that they be a reflection of Your presence in our lives. May all we say about You and all we do in Your name bring glory to You and Your Son, Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.

I am honored that you have read my devotion today, and pray it is an encouragement to you and glorifies God. To receive Devotions For All Reasons in your email every day, go to the homepage and simply click on “Subscribe.”
