Day 33: Pray for Selfless Leaders – 40 Days of Prayer for Our Nation

James 3:16
“For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.”
O Holy God, we praise your name forever and ever. You change seasons and times, You are also the One who has set up the right leaders in our nation and deposed corrupt people who are in leadership. Father, You say that ambition in itself isn’t a bad thing, but selfish ambition and envy can be destructive to our nation at every level of government. Today, we see that many of our leaders are greedy. It is their intention to make themselves rich at the cost of what is best for our country. Others have forsaken You and are encouraging us to stop worshiping You, the true living God, and even stop meeting together. We ask, Lord God, that You depose these people and put the right leaders in office who care about the rights of people of faith.

Lord, please raise up all those in office and seeking office who would put aside their own selfish desires and look for the good of our country. Help our leaders and all those in authority to become better people spiritually, mentally, and physically so that they may serve the nation selflessly and effectively. Show them how to lead us in a way that aligns with your Word. Touch their hearts that they may inspire godliness and holiness in this nation.

Oh Lord, we thank You for this great nation that You’ve given to us and ask that You would bless the works of our leaders’ hands, and ours. In the name of the Savior who selflessly gave His life for us. Amen.
