Day 21: Pray for Wives – 40 Days of Prayer for Our Nation

Proverbs 31: 10-11
“An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.”

Heavenly Father, today we praise You for creating the institution of marriage, for a man and a woman, each one a unique individual, to come together as one flesh. And from that union, wives who are carving out lives of service to their families, communities, churches and our nation. We are warned that nations most often fall from within when there is a decline in moral and spiritual values in the family. It is also said, that as families go, so goes a nation. Our country depends on wise women, wives, and mothers; scripture reminds us that wisdom comes from fear of the Lord and, so, “a wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.”

Our prayer today, Lord, is that all wives would build their homes on the foundation of Jesus Christ, growing stronger and closer to You by reading and studying the Word, and that their minds and thoughts would be protected from the influences of the world. Please, give all wives gentle spirits and tender hearts so that their inner beauty shines as the example of the One she fears.

We read in Proverbs that “An excellent wife is the crown of her husband” and the man who “finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.” May the instruction received and applied result in rich benefits in our nation’s families for generations to come. Today we ask that each wife would fix her heart and mind on the Lord Jesus, with full trust, confidence, and hope in You and in the future of our Nation. In the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
“The woman was made of a rib out of the side of Adam; not made out of his head to top him, nor out of his feet to be trampled on by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be loved by him.”
