James 1:17:
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”
Dear Heavenly Father, here we are at Day 40 of our Days of Prayer commitment and we praise You that we could come to You with our prayers of repentance, pleadings, cries, supplications and petitions on behalf of America. Because of the promises in your Word, we know that you have heard us and will answer. We believe that America is exceptional because since its birth we have experienced your undeserved blessings. We acknowledge that all of us as citizens have been given much and, therefore, much is required.
We praise You that You are on your throne and that whatever happens in our election has already been sifted through your sovereign hands. We can trust You for all the results, knowing that everything from You is a good and perfect gift and that it is part of your plan. Whichever person holds the office, the ills of our nation won’t be magically fixed by its leaders. They can only be fixed by your intervention, mercy and grace. The prayers of your people, “for such a time as this,” have been poured out on America’s behalf and we acknowledge that we must continue beyond Election Day. Fill us with an overwhelming sense that we can do nothing apart from You, rather, we DARE do nothing apart from You.
At the beginning of our prayer initiative, we asked of You, as the song says, “God Bless America.” May we live in harmony, dignity, equality and most of all freedom—which is the yearning of the human heart to breathe freely without fear. And we ask that You help us continue to be a beacon of liberty and democracy, no matter our religious expression.
We give You this day and plead once again for Your continued blessing upon America. In the righteous name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Jeremiah 18: 9-10:
“I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or to plant it; if it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will think better of the good with which I had promised to bless it.”
