Fifth Sunday of Lent: A Prayer of Thankfulness

A Season of Hope – Preparing Our Hearts for Easter
Colossians 3:15
“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”
Heavenly Father, we come today on this happy Sunday to offer our thanks for the gift of this Season of Hope. We thank you for drawing us unto Yourself to be in deeper communion with You during this Lenten season.

We thank You that You created us to have fellowship, and so we join with other believers all over the world, to share in the gift of this season and the fellowship it offers as one big family. Our prayers for our fellow Christians, missionaries, and the persecuted church are lifted up to You on their behalf today, Lord.

We are thankful above all else for the gift of Jesus, who endured the pain of dying on the cross for our sake, to provide a way for us to be forever with You—saved and redeemed. You conquered death so that we might have life. May our lives bear witness to the depth of Your love and the price You paid for our salvation by reflecting Your love, peace, and joy to this fallen world.

May these remaining days leading up to the sorrow of Good Friday and rejoicing on Resurrection Sunday remind us of who You are, our mighty God. Remove the noise and distractions that would draw our attention away from You and your glory. May we repent, confess, pray, praise, worship, serve, love, and glorify You for all You are and all You have done and will do for us, until we meet You in Heaven.

It is in Your mighty name, and for Your sake we pray. Amen.
