Day 310: Saturday Reflections on God’s Provision

Philippians 4:19
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
Job 1: 21b
“The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

“Do not wade far out into the dangerous sea of this world’s comfort. Take the good that God provides you, but say of it, ‘It passeth away;’ for, indeed, it is but a temporary supply for a temporary need. Never suffer your goods to become your God.”
~ Charles Spurgeon

“A thankful heart is one of the primary identifying characteristics of a believer. It stands in stark contrast to pride, selfishness, and worry. And it helps fortify the believer’s trust in the Lord and reliance of His provision, even in the toughest times. No matter how choppy the seas become, a believer’s heart is buoyed by constant praise and gratefulness to the Lord.”
–John MacArthur

Father God, the One who provides so graciously for all our needs, please forbid us to be prideful or selfish with Your supply to us, whether it is temporary or small. May we always be full of praise and gratitude for the good gifts You have given for they come from Your hand. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
